2XMM catalogue versions and nomenclature:

With the release of the new incremental version of the 2XMMi catalogue we have taken the opportunity to make a slight addition to the nomenclature, recognising the scope for potential confusion otherwise.

The new nomenclature we have adopted adds a numbered "data release" (DR) to distinguish different versions of the catalogue. This is similar to the approach taken by, eg, the SDSS project. The DR numbering we have adopted is as follows:

	2XMMp -- The Second XMM-Newton Serendipitous Source Pre-release Catalogue (2006)
