Functional breakdown

The subroutines of the Fortran-90 API fall into two main categories:

• CAL control routines
  These are not directly related to any particular calibration quantity, but influence the way subsequent operations are carried out (e.g., CAL state query/set routine, etc.)
• calibration routines
  These routines return to the caller upon successful completion a data structure which represents a particular calibration quantity or calibrated science data. This category is further subdivided into
  • generic routines
    which are relevant for at least two instruments
  • EPIC-specific routines
  • RGS-specific routines
  • OM-specific routines
