Welcome to the XMM-Newton Catalogue public pages

One of the primary roles of the XMM-Newton Survey Science Centre (SSC) is to provide, on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA), regular public releases of the XMM-Newton serendipitous survey source catalogues.

This page provides links to key information about each of the catalogues (and to the catalogues themselves) that the SSC has released to date. The latest of these, 3XMM-DR4, was released on 23 July 2013.

Catalogue nomenclature:

The new 3XMM catalogue continues the naming convention, adopted in 2010 and applied retrospectively, to the 2XMM catalogue/increment series, which includes a "data release" (DR) to distinguish different versions of the catalogue. The following table shows the catalogue releases within the DR series.

Version nomenclature for 3XMM/2XMM catalogues
Catalogue name     DR version     Full catalogue designation     Year released
2XMMp 0 2XMMp-DR0 2006
2XMM 1 2XMM-DR1 2007
2XMMi 2 2XMMi-DR2 2008
2XMMi-DR3 3 2XMMi-DR3 2010
